About Pulse Percussion

Mission Statement

Pulse Percussion’s mission is to inspire students of Southern California to achieve high standards in performance and provide an opportunity for the development and cultivation of life skills through learning music. We seek to instill in our members a strong sense of personal achievement, growth, confidence, strong work ethic, responsibility, perseverance and dedication; in order to achieve a team goal.

Pulse Percussion Ensemble is an organization dedicated to youth education in the arts. We offer youth from ages of 16-22 both performance and educational opportunities in the percussive arts. Our members will learn the craft of indoor percussion performance, develop the skills necessary to perform at a supremely high level, and perfect a show to be performed in front of thousands of spectators. Pulse Percussion World rehearses in Rosemead, CA. Pulse Percussion Open rehearses in Ontario, CA.

History

The Pulse Percussion Ensemble was founded in the fall of 2004 under the umbrella of Impulse Youth Arts Association. In 2009, Pulse became independently run as Pulse Percussion, Inc. Pulse Percussion Ensembles have been run by a dedicated group of directors including Caleb Rothe, Peter Lucero, Danielle Collins, and Joe Enriquez.

Currently, Pulse Inc offers 3 performance venues:
-The World ensemble, dedicated to those performers ready for the highest level of the competitive activity.
-The Open ensemble, dedicated to preparing performers to compete in the World ensemble.
-Pulse Entertainment, dedicated to offering performances to the entertainment community and enabling our members to raise funds for their educational ventures.

The People

Pulse's staff is fully volunteer, stacked with 30 music educators, designers, and administrators dedicated to 80-100 members. Competition

The Pulse Percussion Ensembles are competitive ensembles, participating in events hosted locally by the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA) and nationally by Winter Guard International (WGI) Sport of the Arts. These events combine music, movement, and props into a theatrical production performed in a gymnasium. From January to April the ensemble competes against other indoor percussion ensembles. Pulse has been Nationally recognized as World Percussion Finalists every year in existence and has received medals in Percussion local and World Championships.
